VISION

"As the founder of The Root Foundation, my vision has always been to create an organization that goes beyond traditional education. I recognized a significant gap in our existing educational system, which often fails to equip individuals with practical, real-world skills. Our goal is to bridge this gap by providing a curriculum that emphasizes hands-on learning and practical knowledge.

At The Root Foundation, we are more than just an NGO; we are a community dedicated to making a positive impact. Our approach is to infuse joy and enthusiasm into our work, ensuring that our efforts to uplift and empower others are both meaningful and fulfilling. Together, we strive to cultivate a generation of capable, confident, and compassionate individuals ready to contribute to a better world."

Conservation

In the era of rapid global development, environmental conservation has become a critical concern. Global data reveals that an alarming average of 41 million trees are felled every day. To combat this environmental degradation, our mission includes:

  • Annual Tree Plantation: We commit to planting 200 trees annually, as part of our sustained effort to restore and protect the environment.

  • Past Achievements: Over the past four years, we have successfully planted over 500 trees, including a notable 250 trees in the last year alone.

Our team participates in significant tree plantation drives such as "Tree Idiot" and "Aazadi ka Amrit Mahotsav" organized by Radio Mirchi (98.3 FM) and the State Government of Gujarat. These initiatives are vital components of our broader environmental strategy.

Together, we endeavor to make our country greener, one tree at a time.

MENTAL HEALTH

The COVID-19 pandemic not only affected physical health but also had a profound impact on mental well-being. The crisis led to a 72% increase in depression, a 45% surge in domestic abuse, and a 28% rise in anxiety.

In response, the leadership of The Root Foundation established Grey Matter, a sister organization dedicated to offering professional online counseling services across India at affordable rates.

India faced three primary challenges in mental health care:

  • Lack of professional help

  • High costs

  • Stigma and inconvenience

Grey Matter effectively addressed these challenges, providing accessible mental health support and reaching over 275 clients. This initiative has been pivotal in making mental health counseling more available and reducing the barriers to seeking help.

The COVID-19 pandemic, claiming 7.1 million lives, stands as one of the most devastating events in modern history. It brought profound loss and grief, breaking families and casting a shadow of despair across the globe.

In response, governments worldwide came together to offer mutual support.

Amidst these collective efforts, The Root Foundation contributed by distributing 500 masks to those in need.

We also conducted 6 educational sessions in nearby villages, emphasizing the importance of mask-wearing and social distancing. While our contributions may appear modest on a global scale, they represent the initial steps towards the broader change we aspire to bring about.

MENSTRUAL HEALTH
& Hygiene

Every year, 23 million girls drop out of school due to inadequate menstrual hygiene management. Despite government efforts to make sanitary pads more affordable and accessible, significant taboos around menstrual hygiene persist.

The SHE Team at The Root Foundation is committed to tackling this critical issue by:

  • Spreading Awareness: We actively educate communities about the importance and proper usage of sanitary pads.

  • Organizing Awareness Camps: Through 24 camps held in areas like Savli, Amraiwadi, Por, and other remote rural districts of Gujarat, we have distributed over 10,000 sanitary pads.

Our ambitious goal is to distribute 50,000 sanitary pads across rural areas nationwide by the end of 2025. This initiative aims to improve menstrual hygiene and empower young girls to continue their education, breaking the cycle of school dropouts due to menstruation.
